Why I’ll Never Read My Daughter’s Diary

To read your daughters diary ruins all of her ability to trust. A diary is a safe haven where she can go and think how she wants to think, discover things about herself and yes dish those ever so dirty secrets she holds inside. It’s more than just, “Sally kissed Johnny yesterday but I liked him first”. It’s deeper than that. It’s more special than that. Once read, she loses faith that any place is safe. She would no longer write down her deepest thoughts and expressions. The outlet she had would be ruined along with her trust and faith in me. And who am I to ruin that?

What are your thoughts on this?
