Hard Work Pays.

Our children never cease to amaze us and keep us on our toes. Every morning our oldest will wake and ask what we are doing today. Today was like every other, to which his dad responded with, “I’m going to do yard work. Do you want to make some money?” Of course, Clarke immediately replied with a yes! And here’s the first moment he amazed me today. He asked his dad how much he could make and even negotiated the price! As they were working outside, I would sneak a peak through the living room window of his dad showing him how to do remulching around trees and trimming and Clarke taking over to learn how to do it. “Am I doing it right, Daddy? How does this look?” I heard his dad say to him “now when you grow up and buy a house you will know how to do this” to which Clarke replied, “Or if I have a little boy when I grow up I can teach him, too, like you’re teaching me, Daddy!” My heart melted. When they got home from working on grandparents lawns, too, I asked Clarke how much he made. I asked him if he would like to go to the store after dinner and buy a particular toy I know he has been really eyeing (ninja turtles are his thing right now). To which he surprised me again…he said he wanted to save his money for a more expensive toy, if he sees it. And that he’s had a busy work day and would like to go put his pajamas on (it’s 4 o’ clock mind you) and relax because that’s what daddy would do. It’s moments like these that make me so proud to be in his life. I know deep down, this little boy is going to be ok. He’s going to do great things in life ❤️
