Have you heard of Seventh Generation’s newest #ComeClean campaign?
A few months ago I posted here about the lovely Maya Rudolph’s newest commercial supporting Seventh Generation and while it was a cute giggle, in all seriousness, it’s time for us to start standing up to companies and learning our rights as consumers.
We have a right to know what is in the products we buy!
Supporting the Cleaning Product Right to Know Act (H.R. 5205) ‘requires manufacturers of both consumer household and industrial cleaning products to disclose all intentionally-added ingredients, including fragrance components, on their product labels and on their websites’.
Why does it matter, you may ask?
According to EWG, the average person uses 126 chemical ingredients a day, A DAY. Every day we are exposed to ingredients that are known or probable human carcinogens and companies do nothing about it. We have to educate ourselves about what goes in, on and around our families bodies.
I’ll be the first to admit that I really didn’t pay much attention to any of the ingredient labels, in my food or my household/beauty products. This video, coincidentally titled “A Wake Up Story”, really helped open my eyes. “From the moment [our babies] are born, over 200 chemicals course through their veins”. That hit home. Now we strive to only buy the best, not only for our children, but for ourselves, too. Our life seems to literally depend on it.
